NEW WORK: Grandcamp Adventures – Treasure Maps
This illo has been a long time coming. I sketched it ages ago and posted the b/w version of it on this blog. After several modifications it has finally been completed. It’s part of a series that started with this fox.
This is a water colour rendering for a client from earlier this Spring. I don’t find myself doing too much work in “real” mediums like water colour or oils anymore. Timelines and budgets have dictated other solutions.
Scott Plumbe and illolab has won in the architectural illustration category of the 2010 Applied Arts Illustration Annual
This is one of a couple of recent sketches from the same series as the Fox character. It features his valet, the Tiger, taking tea with a dubious Snow Leopard character in a Tibetan café in Kathmandu.
While coming back from a short trip Santa Monica yesterday, I couldn’t help but reflect on how wonderful the Vancouver YVR airport is. It’s a striking contrast to the utilitarian corridors and smelly carpets of LAX. The lightness and transparency of the building is a relief after the byzantine sprawl of LAX and the confines [...]

Here is another illustration from the Teti’Aroa series featuring an aerial view of five of the Tahitian atoll’s islands. Onetahi is in the foreground. The inspiration for this was a hand tinted engraving.

Wow January has flown past. My first child Cole was born on January 1st and has been our primary focus. Needless to say I’ve fallen behind with my posts. So to make up for that I thought I’d share a “behind the scenes” quicktime slideshow of an oil painting from Autumn that I’ve been intending to [...]
Here’s a watercolour rendering of an elevation of a Georgian Rowhome for a the Vancouver based developer Mosaic Homes. This project will be selling later this year. Here’s a link to their website & blog. http://taylor.mosaichomes.com/
Here’s a detail of an entry.
Well, its been a hectic couple of months. Lots of great work being done, but no sign of a Summer holiday here at illoLab! Yesterday evening I knew that I’d be working late again, so when I saw some curious light outside at dusk I decided to grab my camera and check it out. I [...]
