One thing I’ve always found rewarding is working on simple illustrated icons. Much like logos, their challenge lays in the simplicity. How can you strip down the layers of unessential detail to review the root of the communication. Here’s a couple icons I have on hand. I’ll be digging some more up in the near future and entering them into the portfolio archive.
Let Love Reign
Originally done for a friend’s website earlier this summer, it was always one of my favorites contenders, but wasn’t the one we chose in the end. During the process the idea that emerged for me was related to one of the big cliches about Vancouver — that it always rains. How depressing. Well it doesn’t always rain, in fact we just had a fabulous Summer and this Autumn has been lovely so far. Weather aside, it is obviously more about attitude. Maybe it’ll make it on to some T’s sometime in the future.
