The Missus and I flew down to Portland over the Labor Day weekend for a wee holiday. It was a wonderfully refreshing trip that now has us both energized to complete all ongoing jobs and tackle the upcoming Autumn projects.
The highlight? without hesitation was Powell’s Books. Holy cow, an entire city block, multiple floors of new and used books. HEAVEN. Needless to say we posted several heavy packages home as our carry-on luggage could not accommodate!
Speaking of the flight, we flew right by the massive crater that was/is Mt. Saint Helens…. now that IS impressive.
Other highlights were the extensive Japanese Gardens, and the sublime Classical Chinese Garden and overlooking tea house (I can highly recommend the ginko tea, edamame & dumplings). Also worth a note is the contemporary garden courtyard w/ it’s “greenwall” at the Hotel Modera.
